Time Capsule from the Past SIX Years

Well, well, well. I've come across this little time capsule from my college days. It was nice to see I wasn't so black pilled yet. Somehow, when you get a job, everything becomes tedious and full of drudgery. Let's go through the main events chronologically, because, what other way is there to go? October 2018- I got a temp job at a trucking place. It was cramped, old, and dusty. Swarming with truckers, dock workers, and dust-lined equipment. I celebrated my 25th birthday there and they got me my first company birthday lunch. I also celebrated someone's retirement; my first company party. I was there for about a month before I was let go, which was fine by me. 7:30-4:30 with an hour lunch was killing me. I couldn't take walks where I was at and I didn't like the place very much anyway. Between temp jobs I went back working for the Tax place for about two weeks. Did I mention that here? I have no idea. November 2018- I went in for an interview with what was to b...

Five Years Have Gone By

A little summary of what's happened The happenings Graduated college with my degree in 2015. It seems to be pretty useless because I haven't even really used it for anything in my field. It's usually just,  OH, YOU HAVE A DEGREE! You don't have to take this test!" "Oh, you were a Psyc major? Do you wanna be a therapist? DO YOU ANALYZE PEOPLE?! Can you tell what I'm thinking right now? Can you save my family?!? Do you know why these people act this way?!" No, I don't know why they act that way. I don't even know why I act the way I do... and I'm not going to pay a thousands just to go back and hate it.. so no thanks. College also brought out some health issues, most notably migraines and bloody noses. MSG is an evil that's everywhere. Coaching Coaching high school was a blast compared to working with the elementary school kids. I didn't have to do keep high schoolers entertained for 5 hours. And the runners wanted to BE THE...

Reviews Times 4

*Walks into a "boring" white room and clears throat: Ahem. Rubs hands, takes a breath.* Three reviews, one blog post. Which one will you guys care about the most? Probably none of them, since no one reads this anyway! -__- (I'll be doing this in the order that I "finished" them.) The first review is of a book called, The Twelve , by Justin Cronin. It's the continuation of The Passage , the came out in 2010, I think, and maybe just a little better. Of course, I would have liked to have read the book when it first came out (10 days after my birthday), but guess who had a Fall quarter to attend with lots of stupid history and "critical thinking" reading and homework? Me. After months of reading boring American history and critical thinking, this book with the size 12, single spaced, Times New Roman font was easy reading. I could make this metaphor: The boring history and critical thinking stuff  was my vegetables (the ones that I don't like ar...

9 More thoughts plus side thoughts

Okay, so it's been about 11 weeks since I've been on here and typed up my opinions, and I'm sure you guys liked that break. But now that the quarter's over, there's a TON of stuff that I have to comment on (or so I thought). I was actually thinking of doing a compare and contrast of my Sophomore years...but that's a little too personal for this bloggy thingy, so I guess I won't do that...list form sounds good. Lists are awesome. I don't really know why I like lists so much, but I put everything into lists or bullet points... weird, right?! These winter holidays. I also complained about this last year too, I know that for a fact, but seriously: These large corporations are squeezing the "joy" out of the holidays by putting up ad after ad after ad after ad....not after Thanksgiving, but weeks before. They have also made "Black Friday" start literally right after everyone's Thanksgiving dinner...good thing my family isn't in...

Life, One Week Until school starts again

Over the past couple weeks, I've read a couple books; quite literally. The first I finished over this two week break from college was Little Pink Slips , by Sally Koslow. It was alright... I didn't really know what to expect, but the ending sure does suck because the ending is where it's the most interesting. Sigh. Some books are just like that, and I don't like it. It was about a lady who worked for a magazine that got taken over by some self-serving superstar. Kind of a let down... Anyways, the next book I read (and finished last week) is The Rise of Nine , by Pittacus Lore. This book is (obviously) the continuation of The Power of Six and I Am Number Four , and this book is even more obviously just as awesome as the others. As the characters get deeper into discovering their "true" purpose in life (ish), they encounter strange dreams...about each other...yeah, I still like books geared towards teens (even though I'm still a teenager, I figure I can sti...

Thoughts on the 'New" Music of "Old" Groups

Image
I keep on hearing Green Day's new single, Oh Love , on the radio station I frequent. I've heard the new Muse single Madness , but on YouTube. I have to say, these new singles are sort of disappointing. But why are they disappointing to you, a huge Green Day and Muse fan?! Becaaauuse they're giving into what's popular today... same with Coldplay, actually, but they had their downturn a couple years ago. Then I stopped caring. But these Green Day and Muse, my two favorite bands...basically of all time have become, well, popy. I'll start with Green Day... When I first heard Green Day...well, when I first  consciously  heard Green Day, I was in 6th grade. Yeah... The first actual songs I heard on the radio were from American Idiot , Green Day's "Who-like" rock opera-concept album. To be even more exact, the first song I ever remember liking of Green Day's was, you guessed,  Boulevard of Broken Dreams . Yeah, that song and I have a lot of history, bu...

The Tea Rose Review etc

So I just finished The Tea Rose , by Jennifer Donnelly... and I totally read that whole series in the wrong order. I don't know if The Winter Rose was my favorite just because I read it first, because I didn't know what to expect, or if it was because it had more romance in it. I just know that all the books in that series are able to stand alone in one way or another. The Tea Rose was about Fiona, someone I "met" in The Winter Rose , and barely heard from in The Wild Rose . The whole series revolves around her in a way...her family. The Winter Rose , about her brother Charlie, The Wild Rose , about her other brother, Seamie. I finally get it! But there's got to be more about writing the series than that... But still, all three books were awesome, and I finally got to see how all these characters got to be rich...and how they all suffered. But from The Tea Rose to The Winter Rose , I feel like there's a huge gap, especially when talking about Seamie, unless...

Dear One of my "Ex Best" Friends,

It's kinda stupid that I'm doing this now, since it's been almost a couple years since this actually happened, but I don't really give a s@&*. My way of coping, since I was recently reminded of this person, who I've happily forgotten about for the past year... This would normally be in my notebook, but I wanted to get this out...share it with others, since there's probably a lot of people feel the same way, even though the situations others have gone through are probably a whole lot different than mine. How have you been? You appear to be doing well, according to the pictures I've seen of you... this is probably pretty awkward, since you've chosen to block me on a certain social networking site... Awkward since you decided to un-friend me cyber-ly and in real life. I don't know why you did, and that's one of the things that's been bothering me for the past year and a couple months. I was pretty crushed when I noticed I didn't see yo...

Summer...what is that?

I just finished reading The Wild Rose , by Jennifer Donnelly, and it was almost as good as The Winter Rose . It still has the villain getting what he deserves...sorta, but the reason this one is just a little less good than The Winter Rose...wait for iiiiiiit... More plot twists. Yes. One minute  you think the character(s) is(are) fine, then, the next thing you know, everything falls apart again. Yet, of course, all the characters end up getting their way. I liked the plot twists and the switching of stories, but you have to admit, it gets confusing...Now all I have to do is read The Tea Rose , and I would have read the whole series. Isn't it strange that I read the 2nd book first, the 3rd book second, and the 1st book last?! --------Now for personal stuff------ I've been told that I should be free. But it's hard for me to be free when I'm used to having all these boundaries that I've hated for so long.... What's free? I'm not sure if I've really hear...

Finally, a Review...and school stuff.

A couple weeks ago, pretty much right after a relative passed away, a book I ordered came in the mail. That  book was called The Winter Rose , by Jennifer Donnelly and it was probably one of the most perfect books I've ever read in my whole entire life of reading books. This book had romance. It had devious criminals and politicians. Criminals and politicians= deceit and life long secrets. It had a strong lead character...characters. Since this was the second in a trilogy, I've "missed out" on the first book...but oh well, that book and the last book are coming in the mail soon, thanks to Amazon.com. According to a certain bookseller, the first book was out of print. They were pretty WRONG. So those books better come quickly...or I'll be bored out of my mind waiting for the shuttle at school and while waiting for the train that always seems to leave as soon as I get to the station. But anyway... When I first started reading (because I read the summary on the bac...

Mourning is a strange thing

I keep on thinking to myself: You're sure she's not just sleeping? You're sure she's not just in the hospital? Are you sure? Are you sure you're sure? But you saw what you saw and that was that coffin going into the ground with her body in it and everyone threw roses and carnations into the grave five feet under ground... It really hasn't sunk in, has it? I'm going on with my life, and I think about you more than I have in the past couple years- because I took you for granted. I always thought you would live to see all your grandchildren get into their 30s. I always thought you'd be there to watch me get married; to fix my wedding gown; to watch ME...us... live our lives. To be there to babysit your great-grand-kids like you babysat your grandkids...me. My brother. My cousins. I can't help but think about all the things you did for me; like the things I said in the last entry. Teaching me little bits of Tagalog. Helping me with my homework...cooking...

Memories...

They say your life will be ending within days. I'd like to think that you'd prove them wrong and at least push through for another month- everyone else thinks that too. With that news in mind, I can't help remembering some of the little things that you taught me... and other random memories that might come up while I type this up.They might be superstition or just random lessons you've learned, but I think they're useful. I'll never forget them. Always drink water after eating anything sweet. Never eat while upside down or laying down. Nap from when you get home from school til 4 o'clock. Anything can be added to any meal. Try frozen vegetables and chicken with mac 'n' cheese or mango with chicken and rice. Not that bad, actually. Oatmeal and prunes! Or were they raisins? Bread, swiss cheese, and garlic powder! (I will never ever forget what you ate for breakfast either... omcheese) (Something that sounds like... all Tagolag/ Spanish stuff) ...

Thoughts on Cryonomaly

I have literally just finished my English teacher's book (in manuscript form. That means he printed it out from his computer), Cryonomaly. You must be wondering why I would even care about my English teacher's book and why the cheese I even have it. Well, that's my fault. About...I guess six weeks ago, when I was picking classes for Summer/Fall 2012, I came across an English class with a prerequisite that I have never seen offered, and asked if I actually had to take the prerequisite to take the class, since I wasn't majoring in English at the time. Since my English teacher is one of those higher up people, I figured he would know what I was talking about. He sorta did. We talked about the class a little and what I wanted to do with it (just take the creative writing class to take it because I enjoy writing, as you can obviously tell by the fact I've made this blog). Since that gave me enough encouragement to think I would even take the class, I brought some of my...

Songs that Make Me think, feel, do... Things.

The songs: Dun dun duuuuunnnn! Cath, Death Cab For Cutie- I feel like the music of that song could be played over my life and it would fit everything. That song gets stuck in my head. All. The. Time. "She holds. A smile. Like someone would hold. A crying child." Grapevine Fires, Death Cab for Cutie- The ultimate sing-when-you're-frustrated/sad-song. "And everything will be alllllrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiighhhhhtttttttt." American Idiot, Green Day- From the first time I heard it years ago on the radio until now, it makes me wanna fist pump and say: BUSH SUCKED! Seriously though, back in the day (7th grade, when my Dad got the CD), that was my rage song. Air guitar and all. She, Green Day- Shee… really just makes me wanna get up and air guitar to the song. Not many songs do that to me any more. PPPFFF I don’t even have to air guitar… I can play the song myself! It doesn't sound the sam...

First Year of College... almost over

Three quarters into my college life at *mycollege'snamehere,* and it's already been "a year" since I've been there. Technically, when I go back in the Fall it'll be a year it'll be a year....but ya know... Anyway, with two days of finals and then a week of break (that I can NOT wait for) then Summer Quarter and a "job." My first ever. Wooohoo. -__- Not that I'm not looking forward to making money, but the idea of doing what I'm doing still sounds a little crazy. I thought I wouldn't be taken seriously when I sent that e-mail and now look! Oh well, more bang for my buck... or something... but yeah, Summer quarter, a job, I guess two weeks of "break" then Fall quarter. Oh boy. Everything feels like it's just flying by. Seriously, I thought that the quarter just started (it's probably the "intense" class I took. Stats can die, but I need it, unfortunately) and now it's pretty much over except for the two d...

It's a little early for Mommy Day... +other stuff

You know how you and your same sex parent have some type of bond? Like a mother and daughter do things together, and a father and son do things together? Well, I've always had that bond with my Dad...I guess because he barely ever yelled at me as a kid...etc etc. My Dad and I seem to do lots of stuff together. He drops me off at the train station, picks me up from pretty much anywhere, we used to watch late night tv together, used to play catch together, and dislike shopping with my Mom together. xD And geeze, this guy tolerates my driving, while my Mom sits in the back trying not to yell at me for being too close to the right... Tonight something happened that made me realize all of that. My Mom and I planned a lunch date for tomorrow. That has never happened in the history of my life. I have never been with "just Mom" unless it was for getting a hair cut (then getting Lotto tickets and doughnuts after). I can't shop with just Mom... And all the things I've don...

Guess I Lied about what book I'd read next...

Well, I thought I was going to read that Cedar book, but it seemed really boring. I actually read a couple pages and I wasn't exactly thrilled. So I decided to read Dog On It , by Spencer Quinn. A mystery solved through a dog's point of view. I mean, how much better can a book be? Though the book wasn't as thrilling as I thought it would be..I could put it down, unlike The Help , but it was funny and made me laugh. The dog in the book, Chet, is pretty funny with his doggy thoughts, which pretty much made the book readable. I like a good mystery and suspense movie, but not so sure about books. The case in this book was the typical, "The girl is missing we have to find her" case. I bet the other books are better. Chet's observations about humans are really something else...and his thoughts are even more...something else. I'd recommend this book if you like doggies! : 3 It was a good read, but I've read better. : / So yeah... guess that's it. Sp...

That One Friend... THE COMMANDER

Let's have a dialogue I made up first. xD A Commander and it's Trooper (who used to be good friends) are at a cliff searching for food when a sudden "gust of wind" aka, the Commander's wind riffle pushes the Trooper off of the side of the cliff. The Trooper is hanging on for dear life. T-Commander, please help me, I'm about to fall! C-I will not help you because you disobeyed multiple orders that I gave you dicrectly. T-That's because your orders were stupid. They only helped you, not the rest of the troop. C-I'm the leader, I do what I want.  T-Can't you see? You're pulling the troop apart because of your selfishness? The troops needs to stick toge- C-SHUT UP? CAN'T YOU SEE HOW USELESS YOU ARE? T-Commander, can't you see what you're doing? You're killing us! C-I don't care. You're useless to me now. You're just a trooper. I've got more of you to spare. T-Commander! Don't you remember all the good times we ...

The Help and Winter quarter

Last week, I started reading the novel, The Help , by Kathryn Stockett. It was certainly one of the more interesting books I've read. I suppose it was interesting because the characters kept on switching back and forth between the characters...and interesting because of their situation. Ya know, a white lady writing about "the help?" In Mississippi? Pretty suspenseful stuff. Why was is suspenseful? Because! There was always a question going through my head, like: are they going to get discovered? Is she going to get fired/slapped/shot/...fired? Seriously. This book was an easy read. I ate up those words like chocolate (and that says a lot about my reading speed). Then again, reading The Help is way more entertaining than reading Kenesiology/ English textbooks. I probably could have finished it in a couple days if not for winter quarter finals and my purposly dragging it out for my 3 day trip coming up. Looks like I failed at that, but oh well. I feel like I read most of...

Rant...ish.

Ugh. First of all, DAUM YOU RANDOM RUSSIAN SITES! Who are just bugs "viewing" my blog. -__- Now that I've gotten that out of the way... It's been five weeks since the quarter started, meaning that midterms should be coming up. Should be? I've already had two. I've got 2 more for those classes... I guess we were pretty lucky in high school because we random tests and a final, therefore helping us learn the material, even though we complained about them. Looks like they're right when they say you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone Five weeks into the quarter equals five weeks straight on the train. It's nice being on that train because I don't have to drive, and I can study/do homework. Five weeks on the train and I've noticed a lot of stuff. I've noticed that people are so rude... playing their loud music and talking loudly, sharing their b-words and n-words with the world...that was just yesterday, anyways... I was ...
